On August 18, 2023, the "CASIC Lecture Hall" EU New Battery Law Symposium was held at SAIC Innovation Research and Development Institute. The "CASIC Lecture" was organized by Yang Jiayin, Manager of Standards and Regulations at SAIC R&D Institute, with senior engineer Wang Sufang as the guest speaker. Over a hundred experts from members of CASIC and the automotive industry participated in the lecture.
Wang Sufang, in conjunction with the EU's new battery law that officially came into effect on August 17th, provided a detailed introduction to the revision process of the regulation, the implementation timeline, and the overall situation of the responsible parties involved. She also explained key issues such as carbon footprint, due diligence reports, recycled material content, and waste battery management. Experts from member such as Changan, Chery, NIO, and Great Wall discussed issues such as the responsible parties, the types of information stored in the battery management system, the qualification list for regulatory certification, the accounting range of battery recycling rate, and the classification of emergency call system batteries.
